In its unwavering commitment to community service and maternal well-being, the Rotary Club of Ikate has extended a lifeline to expectant mothers and healthcare workers at Akerele Primary Health Centre, Surulere.
The project, part of Rotary’s global focus on Maternal and Child Health, was born out of a heartfelt need assessment conducted by the club. During the visit, the clinic’s staff highlighted urgent gaps in delivery equipment and basic maternal supplies — needs that directly affect the safety of mothers and newborns.
In response, our club donated vital medical equipment including a delivery bed, weighing scales, thermometers, sphygmomanometers, delivery kits, trip stands, and other consumables to enhance the center’s capacity for safe childbirth. We also presented care packs to 50 expectant mothers, containing towels, sanitary pads, baby essentials, and delivery materials — small items with life-saving impact.
“Every safe birth is a victory for the entire community,” said the Club President. “By equipping our local health center, we are investing in the future — in mothers, in children, and in the promise of healthier generations.”
This initiative not only improves care delivery at Akerele PHC but also strengthens trust in the local health system. The equipment will serve hundreds of families for years to come, ensuring that mothers are cared for with dignity and their babies welcomed into the world safely.
Through projects like this, the Rotary Club of Ikate continues to turn compassion into action — living out Rotary’s timeless motto: “Service Above Self.”
