Every July, Rotary International shines a spotlight on one of the most pressing needs of humanity — Maternal and Child Health. For millions of women across Nigeria, the miracle of childbirth still carries unacceptable risks. Limited access to quality healthcare, poor infrastructure, and lack of essential resources create daily barriers to safe motherhood.

But we have the power to change this — together.

The Reality We Can’t Ignore

In communities like Surulere and across Lagos, expectant mothers brave high temperatures, overcrowded clinics, and critical shortages of life-saving tools. Newborns often arrive in environments that lack basic sanitation, temperature control, or even delivery beds.

This is not just inconvenient — it’s dangerous.
Postpartum depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) remain largely unaddressed, leaving countless women to suffer in silence after childbirth. At the Rotary Club of Ikate, we refuse to stand by.

Our Mission: Bringing Dignity and Safety to Every Mother and Child

This July, as we join Rotary clubs worldwide to mark Maternal and Child Health Month, we’re launching a targeted intervention to strengthen healthcare delivery for mothers and babies in our community. Here’s what we aim to accomplish:

At Surulere and Anjorin Health Center:
  • Donation of Air Conditioners and Fans to cool the Immunization Hall.

  • Post-Natal Packs to support mothers’ early recovery.

  • 200 Newborn and Maternal Kits packed with diapers, hygiene items, and essentials.

  • A Dedicated Maternal Health Workshop focusing on Postpartum PTSD and emotional wellness.

Support to Primary Health Centers:

We are also equipping a local Primary Health Center with urgently needed supplies:

  • Delivery Bed – ₦80,000

  • Delivery Kits – ₦24,000

  • Mackintosh Sheets (5 pcs) – ₦10,000

  • Trip Stand – ₦20,000

  • Angle Poise Lamp – ₦42,000

  • Screen (Local) – ₦38,000

  • Sphygmomanometer – ₦20,000

  • Thermometer – ₦7,000

  • Adult Weighing Scale – ₦20,000

  • Child Weighing Scale – ₦38,000

  • Consumables – ₦30,000

We Need Your Support

These are not luxuries — they are lifelines. By donating to the Rotary Club of Ikate, you help create safe, dignified spaces for women to bring life into the world. You give children the chance to begin their journey with health, warmth, and care.

Whether you’re an individual donor, a corporate sponsor, or a fellow Rotarian, your contribution makes a real difference.
